The Workday Engineer is responsible for partnering with the Workday HCM and FINS subject matter experts to support all aspects of the modules to include integrations, technical configurations and changes to security/security roles for individuals. The Workday Engineer is also responsible for participating in any future development activities, including the bi-annual release management and the implementation of additional modules and functionality.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide multi-functional expertise, including configuration, security, business process management, etc., for Workday modules, including FINs, HCM, Benefits, Absence, Pay, Recruiting, Advanced Compensation, Talent, Learning and more.
- Partner with subject matter experts in Finance and HR team, external consultants and business clients for the support and continued development of Workday Financials and HCM modules.
- Maintain data integrity and security of the Workday system through periodic audit reports, analyzing system usage metrics, resolving system issues and maintaining role and user-based security groups. Propose, communicate and maintain tenant management strategies
- Oversee Workday system governance in concert with Finance and HR team leads
- Assist in the design, configuration, and implementation of innovative solutions to support a variety of processes and initiatives within Workday
- Design, develop, test and deploy new integrations, as well as maintain existing integrations, using Workday integration tools: Studio, Core Connectors, Document transformation, etc.
- Coordinate with suppliers/vendors to map new and existing integration systems, to include delivery, troubleshooting, etc.
- Lead future system development activities, including system upgrades and the implementation of additional applications and functionality
- Manage Workday’s bi-annual releases, identifying impact/enhancement opportunities associated with mandatory and optional new release features/functionality.
- Support regression testing and communication of required changes as new Workday releases are introduced. Update documentation and training materials as applicable.
- Work with business units to update functional configuration based on changes to existing or new business requirements. This includes assisting in the development proof of concept, changing configuration, testing, deployment and the development of any necessary documentation for users and administrators.
- Provide production support for Workday including, but not limited to, researching and resolving problems, unexpected results and/or process flaws, perform scheduled activities, recommended solutions, or alternate methods, to meet requirements.
- Proactively monitor business processes and jobs to troubleshoot process errors, performance, data delivery and loads, etc.
Education, Requirements & Competencies
- Minimum of 5 years of Workday technical experience (creating integrations, security, business process creation/updates, etc.)
- Expertise in Workday Financials and HCM is required, Workday Certified preferred.
Deep knowledge of Workday’s Business Process Framework and Security - Experience with the following technical tools:
- Report writing , Calculated Fields, Core Connectors, EIBs, Document Transforms and Workday Studio
- Web service integrations such as WWS, SOAP, REST, WSDL, and XML
- Workday analytics – PRISM
- Build and publish data sources
- XSLT editors, such as Oxygen
- The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is able to effectively work across different teams with strong communication skills.
- Strong project management skills
