Overview
Play a pivotal role in designing, enhancing and maintaining the University’s HR and payroll administrative systems as the payroll systems subject matter expert. Execute the end-to-end development life-cycle for assigned projects, partnering with HR, IT, Finance and other University schools and units. Gather and analyze the needs of business users to develop functional and technical requirements. Design business processes and technical solutions that are efficient, compliant and cost effective. Configure system changes and partner with IT to develop new or modified integrations. Develop and manage the testing process. Prepare documentation, training and communications. Deploy changes to production, in collaboration with IT as needed. Execute the handover to the operations group for ongoing support. Participate on other University projects as a subject matter expert or other roles, as assigned. Design and update system security roles and responsibilities. Develop and test mass data upload templates. Research and resolve escalated production support issues. Conduct quality assurance reviews of colleagues’ designs. Establish data quality procedures for new or modified processes and assign responsibilities for data validation. Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in Workday payroll, keeping abreast of new functionality. As requested, act as liaison with one or more NYU schools or units to understand their priorities, assist with evaluation and prioritization of enhancement requests and provide leadership and stakeholder updates on key initiatives. This role will be fully remote.
Qualifications
Required Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Information Technology/Computer Science
Preferred Education:
Master’s Degree
Required Experience:
5+ years of professional level experience developing and managing human resources and payroll systems and related projects/training or an equivalent combination of education and experience including configuring payroll and related modules in a large HCM environment, including developing and maintaining security and creating/modifying business processes.
Preferred Experience:
5+ years of experience configuring payroll and related modules in a large Workday environment, including developing and maintaining security and creating/modifying business processes.
2+ years of intermediate-level experience with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas and data validation.

Ability to communicate effectively with different levels of management and business and technical communities. Ability to marshal people and resources towards achievement of goals.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of HR and payroll processes, policies, practices, and systems capabilities in a higher education environment. Knowledge of data warehouse and business intelligence concepts. Ability to create training materials and conduct training sessions.
Additional Information
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $105,000.00 to USD $155,000.00.
